***6:57 A.M., My house***
“…in May 2011, astronomy enthusiasts will be treated to the sight of all the planets except Saturn arrayed along the ecliptic, the path of the sun through the sky…”
The morning news broadcaster on FNN12, a fox with warm copper fur and a sunny smile, speaks in an energetic wakey-wakey tone to the sleepy audiences through the TV speakers. Perhaps it is too much to ask for the non-astronomy enthusiasts to feel excited about six planets in alignment at seven o’clock in the morning, the fox quickly move on to the next story:
“And perhaps some of you might’ve already learned about the prophecy that’s been roaming on the Internet or among your co-workers, that tomorrow is what some of the bible readers call ‘The Judgment Day’. According to the website www.wecanknow.com, in this Saturday those who were chosen by God will disappear from the face of this World, and those who remain will face the final judgment in around October…” The fox continues on reading the content filtered from the website. An unrelated picture of the galaxy is placed on the top left portion of the TV screen.
“…and of course, God will be staring at his atomic clock, waiting precisely for 0000 at May 21st and teleport random people out of Earth.” I said to myself, almost find it funny to see that some people actually think these so-call “prophecy of Judgment Day” are of any news value – then again, I cannot pretend that I would rather listen to more about the IMF chief sexual assault case.
If tomorrow is really the beginning of the End of the World, God is definitely not betraying his intention in any way: The sky is covered entirely by cloud, gray as John’s fur (a gray wolf friend of mine, mind you) and perfect for planning World destruction in private if you live above the sky. I turn off the TV on the kitchen counter before the commercial spokesman can try to convince me purchasing air refresher for my garbage container, and reach for my new, still charging Android cell phone
NEW MESSAGE
Recipient: Alex, John
Message: See u @ the den 9 pm?
The Den is a local bar where we – Alex, John, and myself – use to hang out every Friday after work. Just as I was about to finish washing the dishes and coffee mug, the phone vibrates on the kitchen counter:
Me: See u @ the den 9pm?
Alex: yeah sure see u later bro
John: No problem, I will see you there then.
Chuckle, I unplugged the phone from the charger and head out for work.
*** 9:10 P.M., The Den ***
“And he said” Alex lean forward, lowering his already deep voice, “ ‘If you decide to step down and stay out of this, then I won’t accidentally attach this video in my internal e-mail.’ ”
John raises his left eyebrow, a sign that this wolf is surprised. “Why does he thinks that a video of you banging your boy friend in the bathroom is gonna do him any good? The company is looking for a director, not a public health teacher.”
“That bear’s a fool, that’s why.” Alex leans backward and spreads his strong arms wide open to both sides of the coach. “If you saw the look on his face when I show him the video and login records of him stealing and changing clients’ information in the database…” He waves his hand towards me and says “by the way, thanks for the pinhole webcam and keylogger set up, those work like magic.”
I shake my shoulder. “I was about to ask you what did you do with ‘em,” and took a sip of ice tea. I knew my ears and tail must have flicked a little, because the wolf is giving me the I-know-you-are-lying grin across the table.
“And I trust that you will hand over the evidences to the company and the authority regardless if he cooperates or not, since you are a law-abiding citizen?” The wolf half joking to the lion.
“That depends. If it is you that will arrest me for withholding information, then I probably would give it up.” The lion chuckle, and finished his fifth cup of beer. “Anyone else, I will call my lawyer and present the recording of him threatening me with sex tape as evidence. Thanks to Felix, again.” The lion gives me a wink.
“My recorder watch.” I remind myself, looking at the lion’s gold watch that’s capable of recording crystal clear voice video, also my birthday present.
“Well, lady and gentleman, I enjoyed your company, but I am needed elsewhere.” Alex stood up and put on his jacket. “Can’t let my tiger waits for too long, ya kown? All drinks on me.”
“Say hi to Chris for me.” I said as he open the front door of the bar. He waves his hand in the air before stepping out.
John just sits at his corner, sipping his ice tea and grumble “that lion”, and refuses to comment on Alex’s semi-legal activities or sex drive.
“So…” trying to break the ice. “Do you want to come to my place? I got something I wanted to show you.”
“Like what?” John said, while checking his cell phone. “Hope it wouldn’t take too much time, I still have to get up early tomorrow for a meeting before my vacation.”
“Oh it wouldn’t, just a little project I’ve been working on and thought you might find it interesting.”
“What’s it about?”
“Quantum teleportation.”
***11:58 pm, My house***
“So you are saying,” the wolf said, trying to appear calm “that you somehow figured out how to apply quantum teleportation of qubit in to physical communication?”
“Yeah…”
“And you manage to allow information to be sent from this watch-like thing to this computer and completely ignore relativity?”
“Yeah…”
“And you are telling me that this scientific breakthrough of the century is your side-project?”
“Come on now, it is not like I am the only one who came up with this idea – ”
“That’s been widely accepted as a theoretically impossible task.” The wolf shake his head “If only I know less about quantum physic, I might simply ignore the implication of your ‘little’ side project.”
“Well,” I shake my shoulder, “Let’s give it a try! Put it on and send me a moss code message from another room.”
“What do you use to power that watch?”
“Polonium, don’t worry, it is contained in lead covering and you know it doesn’t emit ionizing radiation.” I give him an encouraging smile, and he give me the “I have enough of this craziness” expression in return, without the facepalm.
“Why are you NOT on the CIA watch list for doing something so Russian?” The wolf jokes as he puts the wrist watch-like device on his left hand.
I watched the wolf left the room, and then I stare at my terminal laptop screen for any sign of incoming signal sent from the receptor located at the basement of the house. A few second later, the computer shows a line of morse code and translated:

“Yes!” I yelled to the door that’s partially close. A minute later another line of morse code appears on the screen:

“Because tapping morse code is cooler than typing it, voice-to-text looks stupid and I am not wearing those stupid mind-reading head set!” I scream to the door, expecting a voice respond this time, but nothing.
“Hey, are you there?” I yelled again to the door, hoping he didn’t actually gone down stair because I really hate to get up. “John! Come back here!”
No sounds, nothing, as if I am the only one in the building. As I struggle between the idea of standing up and find him or just wait for him to come back, I saw a line of morse code again on the screen.

Staring at the screen, I couldn’t imagine that he is the kind of person who will make a joke this low. I typed: .--- --- .... -. / .. - / .. ... / -. --- - / ..-. ..- -. -. -.-- / -.-. --- -- . / -... .- -.-. -.- (John it is not funny come back). Good thing I installed a receiver on the watch as well, but I still haven’t figure out how to minimize the energy drainage by the receiver every time it receive a message from the base…

(I am not joking I just appear in this place so many people and so bright)
What happened to John? None of this makes sense and John is obviously not intoxicated or anything…I don’t believe this. I will find this little sneaky wolf and make him feel sorry…okay, let’s see, I just have to activate the heat sensor of the building and find…no one? Sneaky, but too bad, the house also has a set of 24 hours recording infrared CCTV that will track your movement as soon as you left my room…
I double clicked the latest recording of the CCTV, and the security system faithfully started recording all the movement outside of this room as soon as the door opens up, and John walks out…all is looking good. I can see him tapping on the watch as he walks along the hall way, which automatically lights up when movement is detected.
And then, out of the blue, the wolf disappeared in the middle of the third hall way.
Simply vanished, no smoke or light or anything. The hallway light stays on for a moment, and turns itself off when it detects no more movement. Nothing’s left behind.
Cannot believe my eyes, I replay the video again. The wolf just disappear, at 0000 May 21st, 2011. I analyze the video frame by frame, and the frame right before 0000 is still showing the wolf casually walking down the hall way, but he disappeared in the next frame. The video’s watermark shows no sign of editing; it is showing exactly what happened.
I immediately switched back to the quantum teleportation communicator screen, and see lines of morse codes:

As if the World is trying to convince me to believe the unbelievable, three news update from FNN, MSNBC, and BCC all posted this head line “Judgment Day has begun, million people disappear.”
