Study Guide.....is it useful?

Of course, with all the chances of practicing and renew the knowledge, study guide sure can helps you to get better grade under any condition. Personally I like study guide. Although the works seems a lot when you first look at it, and sometime half of the things mention in the study guide weren't on the test, but it still cover all the things we need to know for the test, which makes it easier for us to study. It can let us know what we should know and what kind of question maybe on in the test, and give us confidence before we take the test.

My math teacher, however, had did a different way to make study guide for the students than the other teacher. She had hand out the job of making study guide to the students in the class instead of making it by herself. She had divided the class into serveral groups, and give each group a chapter from the book as their topic of the study guide. She thinks that while we are making the study guide, we can also study the specific topic we got assigned.

It sounds like a very good idea, but things that are perfect usually doesn't work. It turns out that some of the groups forget to make enough copies of the study guides for everyone in the class, and some students just simply absent that day so no one can get their study guide. (luckly, that didn't happen in my group, but I forget to make enough copies too = P). And most importantly, every groups had try to cover as many things as possible, so they make the study guide thicker that the book itself (exaggeration, but not far). This action had actually make the study guide itself become a weapon, since it's really hurt if you get hit by it, and that's how thick is that thing. Also, I can hear the cries from the trees that got cut off and become the papers used for the study guide, and that really makes me feel so bad.

Something funny still occured in my Chemistry class. Today my class is doing chemical compound naming, and I am being asked to name S4N4 (tetrasulfur tetranitride<---I think that's how you spell it, right?). I try really hard to pronouns this word correctly, but it doesn't work at all... that was embarrassing... I feel so hot all the sudden, and I feel my face to red.

it's time to go back study I think....ar..I just spent so much time on typing this....no~~>"<

P.S.S I tried to draw a pic on the wolfbbs.net's online drawing board, but my firefox close my window all the sudden, and now I can't even go back into the drawing board =_= that was weird

    嗯...Study Guide是指共筆或講義嗎？

    我班上的共筆制度是(幾乎)每科都有分配，也就是每位同學(主要幹部除外)都會分到一科其中的一組
    然後每一個群組(科目)設定一個學藝，負責與老師溝通以及組員之間聯繫、共筆印製發放還有監督講義品質

    的確共筆的耗紙量非常大，而且不一定大家都會珍惜
    所以學長姐也會傳共筆下來，這樣就可以減少消耗，頂多重新編輯或加入缺失的部份


    共筆...做得比課本還厚啊...
    這我想都不敢想......

    本班的共筆還停留在為考試而整理的階段
    不知何時才能做到為學習與教導而製作的層級......

    I see. I believe your school had did the same thing I am doing right now in my math class. Personally I will say &quot;thank god&quot;, since I don't have to do it for every SINGLE of my classes, that should drive me crazy in no time @@. It is very differcult to have a nice, clean, and useful study guide if it was made by everyone in the class. I just finished three chapters of it and I found TONS of errors, and some of them may confuse other student who is actually studying from it. If someone, who had learned the false example and use it in the mid-term exam, I am sure they would properly think is unfair. Sadly my teacher didn't have time to look over and correct them, but I do hope that she is looking over it right now and correct it tomorrow, or things could go really wrong...&gt;&quot;&lt;



    The number of papers use in the study guide is LARGE , and I found most of the information in each chapter had repeated again and again due to the lack of communication between group members. I love the enviroment and I really hope that this &quot;making your own study guide&quot; thing stop this year. (Is also differcult to found a place and time to make35 photocopy of one section of the study guide)

    I just measured the thickness of the study guide and compare it to the the chapters in the book that had been covered, and guess what? they are almost the same size

    Personally, again, study guide is more like a tool for student who is perpare for a test or exam. What I mean is, you shouldn't see a group of students comes together and do questions from the book if there is no text nor quiz coming up (except in learning center, which is a place I don't want to step in at all). Maybe this happens in other school, but I see none in my. I think the better way to learn things than the study guide is to make a project of the subject. I found this way can makes the knowledge stays longer in my head. Study guide is more like a device that helps you to memorize large amount of data in short period of time, but they don't last long.
