Good day, I am F, and the fact that I can type all this out without being disturbed is because I had borrow my uncle’s lab top and typed this in it.
It wasn’t so much going on around this week, but still little things happen, and they add up and becomes either good or not so good memory.
At the Saturday weekend, my family decided to visit my aunt who lives in NYC. We usually like to have breakfast in the Chinatown, and then buy groceries and food good enough for a week (mostly the food or things you can’t buy in New Jersey because is too “Asian”). Then everyone will drive to Queens, where my aunt lives.
My aunt’s friend had somehow come over that day, and teaches us how to drive…with his new car on the road. Because I didn’t have my driving permit with me that time, so I could only sit in the back sit and watch my brother drive. My brother was nervous as he gets on the new, shiny car and afraid he might draw the first scratch on it. It wasn’t comfortable to sit on a car driven by a learning driver, but my aunt’s friend is very nice and teaches my brother as he go along. Later that day I had dinner with my family in a fine, small Japanese restaurant with fresh shu shi = )
Sunday my aunt (the one I live with) decided to go to my uncle’s house for a visit, and help out baby sitting his two ill infants. I personally don’t want to go because I needed to work on my research paper for English class, but then do I have a choice? Anyway, my aunt taught me driving at the evening that day, it was fine, it makes me more confident for the upcoming driving test.
Monday, I went to the Math League competition with the school right after school. The questions I encountered is right below, word-by-word copy.
Individual Questions February, 2008
1. In a given arithmetic sequence the first term is 2, the last term is 29 and the sum of all the terms is 155. Find the common difference.
2. Solve for x in the simplest form: (log2 5) (log8 x) (log5 8 ) = 5
3. Triangle ABC is 30-60-90 triangle, with BC = 1 and AC = 2. What is the distance from A to D if DC is the angle bisector?
4. How many numbers from 5000 to 6999 contain at least one 3?
5. If p represents a constant, determine the positive value of the difference between the larger root r and the smaller root s of the quadratic equation: x^2 – px + (p^2 – 1) / 4 = 0
Answer:
Apparently I don’t know how count nor drawing triangle, since I got number 3 wrong (by drawing a wrong triangle with 1 and 2 for legs) and number 4 wrong (by miss counting 20 numbers). And thanks god that calculator is allowed in the quiz, because I had completely forgot the property of log, and I solve the question all by my calculator.
One thing is wroth to talk about beside how stupid I am is the rally question, the question was:
3. In a infinite geometric sequence, the sum of the terms in the sequence is X (I forgot the number) and the common ratio is 5/6, what is the first term of the sequence?
Clearly, a lot of people forgot the formula to find the answer ( first term number/ ratio – 1 = the sum), and that included me lol.
After the Math League Competition, I chat with my friends on the school bus, and we decided to call each other as soon as Starcraft II comes out, and play it the moment we got it and forget about anything else we have to do XD but for now I will go join FlyFF with him (he just started playing it, but I played it before).
For the future, I really wanted to see the upcoming high school musical “footloose”. Thought I don’t know if my family would like me to spent time on things they don’t think matter, but I really really wanted to go >”<
To my dear black lion, I will work on the translation as soon as I am done with my research paper, if you care = )
